Giancarlo Stanton started his N.Y. Yankee career on the right foot last week hitting two Home Runs in his first game. Yesterday was different. In the Yankee home opener, Stanton stepped to the plate 5 times and struck out 5 times.

He was booed by the fans and he looked like he was going to cry. I mean this grown man looked like he was going to cry for real. He was having one of his worst games, probably in his career at a time where anyone would want to make a great impression.

All of this is happening while an already beloved Yankee is having one of the best games of his life. While Stanton was providing a steady wind in the stadium all day, Didi Gregorious was hitting everything he saw.

Didi went off going 4-4, with 2 HR's and 8 RBI's. This was not great optics. You have a guy in Didi that has already impressed Yankee fans. He has seen some post season success and earned great respect for taking over for Derek Jeter and producing in that role. On the same day, the hired gun, Stanton, with the huge contract and all the hype could not hit a pinata. It just did not look great.

As for the boo's. I'm not a guy who boo's, it's just not my style. I don't wanna get down on one of my own. However, I defend a guy's right to boo. We pay ridiculous amounts of money to see these games as fans. We have expectations for our teams and our players. If a guy wants to boo, especially in New York, boo away. This performance from Giancarlo Stanton was worthy of boo's in New York.

P.S. At the end of the day, winning is all the matters. The Yanks did that and all thanks to Didi. What a cool day for him.
