The Hit ‘Gronk’ Took Sunday WAS a Bounty
Rob Gronkowski's availability for the Super Bowl is up in the air according to CBS Sports. He will spend most of this week in NFL concussion protocol. He's in that concussion protocol because he took this monster shot from Barry Church of the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday in the AFC Championship game.
This was a bounty hit plain and simple. Church did not pull up and he clearly went shoulder and head first into Gronk's head area. Jags head coach Doug Marrone said the refs got this one right. I don't see how it's not a bounty.
Every sports announcer in the country was talking about what the Jags needed to do to shut "Gronk' down leading up to the game and no one seemed to have an answer. The same dialogue was for sure taking place during Jags practices and meetings ahead of the game. Gronk had to go.
Someone, likely not the head coach, told the defensive secondary during the week that whoever takes him out has a handful of cash coming their way. This is old football behavior, I think it's violent and dangerous but I also kind of miss it. I have no dog in this fight, I'm just telling you the eyeballs tell me this was a bounty. AGAIN - I don't like the Patriots, I hate them but this looks like a bounty hit if I have ever seen one.
P.S. You don't have to remind me of what Gronk did THIS VERY SEASON against the Bills, I already know.
