I like Mark Cuban.  I'm not a big fan of most billionaires but this guy has personality to spare.  For those who don't know Mark Cuban is the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, owns businesses around the globe and is the star of the TV show "Shark Tank" which I love.

Mark spoke to the Dallas Morning News and had some advice for the eventual winner of the Powerball Jackpot which is now in excess of 1.5 billion dollars.  He said:

Hire a tax attorney first.  Makes good sense.  I mean would any of us even the rich know how to manage that type of money?  I think not.

Don't take the lump sum, so you don't blow it all.  That is very interesting.  Conventional wisdom says to take the lump sum because you are guaranteed more.  The fact is if you take the annual payments you only get them until you die.  I think he says to take the annual payments because like I said before 99 percent of people would mismanage themselves out of the whole lot.

If you weren't happy yesterday, winning won't make you happy tomorrow.  That's not really advice but it is true.

But if you were happy yesterday, winning will make you VERY happy tomorrow.  You'll enjoy a life where you don't have to worry about bills.  Again not advice but fun to dream about.

Tell all of your friends and family NO when they ask for money.  No exceptions.  If you help someone, it should be someone your close enough to that you knew about their finances before you won.  And no one needs 1 million dollars for anything.   That's not entirely true.  I mean I'm betting a gold jet ski would fetch 1 million.

Winning the lottery doesn't make you a smart investor, so don't make investments.  Just put the money in the bank and live comfortably forever.  OH MAN I WANNA WIN THIS THING AND IGNORE ALL OF THIS GOOD ADVICE.  IT WOULD BE ONE WILD PARTY LEMME TELL YOU WHAT RIGHT NOW!

Here's Mark killing it on Shark Tank.
