Danbury’s Outback Steakhouse Permanently Closes
Well, we knew that there would be an avalanche of major retailers, local and national restaurants that wouldn't make it through this coronavirus recovery. It doesn't make any of these breaking news stories any easier to report. We've just received word that the Outback Steakhouse that was located at 116 Newtown Road in Danbury has closed permanently.
I just got off the phone from calling the location, and unfortunately the message confirms that the temporary closure or this particular Outback location has turned into a permanent one.
The last post on the official Danbury Outback Facebook page was from April 6, 2020, and touts that the location was open for curbside takeaway and delivery. That has now changed, obviously.
You can still get your Outback favorites at many other area locations, Outback is still going to be slinging the Blooming Onions at seven other Outback steakhouses around the state of Connecticut. There are restaurants operating in Enfield, Newington, North Haven, Orange, Shelton, Southington, and the closest one to the now-closed Danbury location is located in Wilton at 14 Danbury Road.
I used to be a big fan of Outback, they made such a big splash when they burst onto the restaurant scene in the 90s. They made themselves famous with their steaks and Blooming Onions, but my personal Outback favorite was their chicken wings. I just really liked the breading that they put on them, and I always enjoyed them more than most chain restaurant wings. I'm sad to see the Danbury location close down.
