I have done this and a few times it lead to something cool, most other times in ended in disaster.

I mean if your company has a policy against inter office dating then you probably don't want to do this at all.  Even if they don't it's rarely good for your career but you can get away with it.  The best way to get away with this is to fly under the radar.  Just as with any company party you want to be noticed for being there but not remembered for anything you did.

You don't want to be the first one there, the last one to leave, the drunkest, the weirdest dancer or make any bizarre outfit choices.  You also should hide it if you can.  You don't want to be tonsil diving mid dance floor.  It's more of a shock to your co-workers and then you become the focus of the party.  People start asking questions, the needy, lonely, sad lady at the office is going to get in your business.  It's just not a good look.  So if you must have this person right there, right at that moment you should just sneak away.  Even if your departure together and eventual obvious return is evident it really does not matter.  You have plausible deniability on your side.

We will be taking your phone calls on this topic tomorrow morning on the Ethan and Lou show on I-95.  95.1FM.  So call with your stories between 5:30-10am to 203-775-9595.
