Barnes & Noble Set to Open Two New Connecticut Locations
Barnes & Noble is Back — Two New Stores Coming to Connecticut
For years it felt like Barnes & Noble was fading into the background, quietly closing stores and leaving book lovers worried the days of browsing real shelves were numbered.

But the tide has turned. The company is not only surviving — it’s growing again — and Connecticut is on the list for brand-new locations.
According to MSN, nationwide, Barnes & Noble has already opened 32 new stores in 2025 and plans to hit 60 before the year is done. The surge comes after strong sales proved people aren’t done with paper books just yet. Add in the B&N Cafés, stacks of best sellers, and a mix of toys, games, and gifts, and suddenly the once-struggling chain is looking more like a comeback story.
Here in Connecticut, two new stores are confirmed:
- 775 Main Street South in Southbury
- 1145 High Ridge Road in Stamford

Exact opening dates haven’t been released, but with the holiday shopping season approaching, it’s a safe bet the doors will be open sooner rather than later. So yes, it looks like the Nutmeg State is about to get a little more literary — and maybe a lot more coffee-fueled browsing.
Our Danbury Barnes & Noble packed up and left the Backus Avenue Plaza a few years back, relocating to the mall. In its old spot? A thriving bar. So now the city has both — a bookstore and a place to drink. The great American booze bags who wrote some of our finest sagas would probably be proud we managed to keep literature and liquor alive under the same zip code.
