Connecticut Residents Report Troubling Results When It Comes to Friends
According to a study from the Action Network, Connecticut didn't exactly shine in a new ranking that measured how supported people feel by the friends, family, and loved ones around them.

The study analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data from all 50 states, looking at the percentage of adults who said they always receive the social and emotional support they need. Unfortunately for the Nutmeg State, Connecticut landed near the bottom of the list.
Only 24.7% of Connecticut adults said they consistently feel they have the emotional support they need, putting the state 45th in the nation. That means only five states ranked lower: Colorado, California, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wyoming.
I'll admit, this one surprised me a little. Connecticut has a reputation for having strong communities, great schools, and plenty of nice places to live, but this suggests a lot of people still feel like they're going it alone. Whether it's busy work schedules, long commutes, social media replacing real conversations, or just the fast pace of life, something seems to be getting in the way of meaningful connections.
At the other end of the rankings, Delaware claimed the top spot, with more than 34% of residents saying they always receive the social and emotional support they need. South Carolina, Montana, Missouri, and Kentucky rounded out the top five.
It's also worth noting that even the highest-ranked state only reached about one-third of its population. In other words, no state knocked this category out of the park, which says a lot about where we are as a country.
If there's one takeaway from this study, it's that checking in on friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family members might matter more than we realize. Connecticut may have finished near the bottom, but that's something all of us can help improve one conversation at a time.
