My wife is from Ludlow, Massachusetts located right outside of Springfield, not too far away from most places in central and Western CT. She was the first person to introduce me to a legendary downtown Springfield drinking and dining establishment The Student Prince & The Fort.

They're been operating since 1935 and are now part of The Bean Restaurant Group, who made their bones with another legendary Massachusetts restaurant, which is now closed permanently, Chicopee's Hu Ke Lau. The Bean Restaurant group already operates one restaurant in Connecticut, Union Kitchen in West Hartford, and just yesterday, they opened up a second restaurant on LaSalle Road in WeHa, Wurst Haus.

Wurst Haus West Hartford is now open at 37 LaSalle Road and as you probably guessed, it's a German/Bavarian-themed joint. They boast of offering the largest selection of German beers in the area. The menu looks to be filled with items that will make you fart like a champ: Fried Brussel Sprouts, Bratwurst, Duckwurst, Kielbasa, Saurkraut, Schnitzels, Goulash, and the bowel-shattering Wurst Poutine.

This is going to be the second Wurst Haus Restaurant, there is already one operating in very cool Northampton, Massachusetts. Wurst Haus doesn't just serve up cabbage and heavy sausages, they also offer a kid's menu and I took a peek at their dessert menu, and it looks really nice with a couple of special offerings that don't have ground pork or beef in them. Wurst Haus West Hartford is open Monday 3-9, Tuesday to Thursday 11-9, Friday and Saturday 11-10, and Sunday 11-9.
