Road Trip Anyone? Here Are Some Connecticut Summer Getaways (Mostly Food Related!)

The Place is simply a seafood lovers dream! Abbott's is located in Noank where you can feast on lobster and clams, mussels, and oysters in a picnic table type atmosphere overlooking the Sound. Must haves are the light clear, broth based chowder, steamed clams, Marty's mussels and their famous "Hot Lobster Roll"...Ah hell, just try it all!!

Back in my day, drive-ins were plentiful, but now are a dying breed. The Mansfield Drive-In is at 228 Stafford Road in Mansfield, CT and features 3 screens and a well stocked snack bar. For movie info call 860-423-4441. On Sunday's, the Drive-In boasts the largest flea market in eastern CT, indoors and outdoors, rain or shine.

Harry's cheeseburgers are the talk of Connecticut! They're located at 104 Broadway in Colchester. The burgers are cooked on a hot oily grill with top of line ground beef and the hot dogs are cooked on the same grill. People who live close by, say their go-to place for a cheeseburger is always Harrys'.

Sea Swirl, a former Carvel stand, is on Rt. 1 east of Mystic and is famous for their outrageous whole belly fried clams. One of the reviewers on Roadfood.com said that, "Seaswirl's fried scallops are beyond unbeatable. They are the gold standard."
