Safety first, always. If I was headed to an event at the XL Center I'd be happy to take the extra time to do this, wouldn't you?

Starting today, Jan. 11 some added security measures at the XL Center in Hartford go into effect.

In a post from the XL Center Facebook page came the announcement:

We have implemented new security measures here at the XL Center! Beginning tonight for Disney on Ice and for all subsequent events, to ensure the safety of all guests that enter the arena, in addition to the bag and prohibited items policies, metal detectors have been installed at the venue

You can read the full press release as well as get answers to some frequently asked questions by going to xlcenter.com

I always think its way better to know ahead of time what you can and can't bring into any venue, so for a full list of prohibited items and policies, click on the following link xlcenter.com/xl-center-policies

The XL Center says providing a safe fun environment is a top priority. Here's an important added piece of information that was posted in the policy release:

XL Center management strongly requests that all guests arrive 45-60 minutes prior to all scheduled event times to avoid and/or minimize waiting lines.

I figured you really needed to know what to expect now when attending an event there.
