Consumer Alert Issued For Dutchess and Putnam Counties
The New York State Attorney General has issued a consumer alert for people getting propane deliveries living in Dutchess, and Putnam County, as well as the entire Hudson Valley.
Due to a rise in complaints during the recent cold snap, the New York State Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman has issued a consumer alert for anyone if they are experiencing excessive delivery delays or potential price gouging related to propane delivery.
Schneiderman said in a press release that "No New Yorkers should have to freeze in this weather, and my office is looking into cases of unacceptable delivery delays and potential price gouging."
If you're a Hudson Valley resident who has experienced excessive delivery delays or potential price gouging related to propane delivery, you are asked to contact the Attorney General's hotline at 518-776-2000 or you can file a complaint online.
You can also take care of this with a little preemptive strike by investigating the heating options you have. Here are a few quick tips:
- Fuel oil and propane prices can vary significantly from supplier to supplier.
- Prices can also fluctuate dramatically throughout the heating season.
- Make sure you understand all of the terms and conditions in your agreement with the company, including any fees or charges for deliveries, minimum purchase requirements or other conditions.
