Hello fellow Thomaston Savings Bank customers, I've just received a scam alert from our local bank warning us about a new scam. Here's what you need to know about.

Is it safe to trust anything you receive from a business via phone, text, or email in 2025? I'm a natural skeptic, but even so, I have fallen victim to the online thieves of the world. Thomaston Savings Bank has just sent out an email to it's customers warning us about a rise in fraudulent activity. According to the email sent out from Marissa McGee, Thomaston Savings Bank's Vice President, and Senior Operations Officer, there has been a rise in caller ID spoofing scams, where criminals clone their phone number to appear as if the phone call is originating from Thomaston Savings Bank.

According to norton.com, scammers can easily alter their phone number utilizing VoIP technology by setting up a fake account and customizing their display information. Warning signs for this type of fraudulent phone call include an unrecognized number, a pre-recorded message, a sense of urgency, requests for personal information or payments, and the displayed number being different from a stored contact.

In any case, Thomaston Savings Bank reiterates that they will never call you to ask for your pin number, password, account number, or other private information. If you are unsure, hang up, or call Thomaston Savings Bank at 855-344-1874. If you feel as though your account has been compromised, or you've disclosed personal information to a scammer, change your password.

You can get almost anything that your heart desires in the State of Connecticut, except for the products produced by these five national retailers and fast-food companies. The only way to enjoy anything from the following places is traveling out of Connecticut, or ordering it on Amazon, and a burger isn't the same after jetting across country.
