According to a new study from WalletHub, Connecticut is one of the best places in America to work from home.

The study broke things down using a mix of real-world factors—stuff like internet costs, connection quality, home size, and how crowded living spaces are. When you add it all up, Connecticut finishes near the top of the list, thanks largely to affordable internet and strong access across the state. On top of that, homes here tend to be big enough that people can actually carve out a decent workspace without feeling like they’re sitting on top of each other.

There’s also a noticeable trend here—the Northeast shows up a lot. So while people love to complain about costs around here (and yeah, that’s fair), when it comes to remote work infrastructure, this region actually holds its own.

And to be fair, working from home has become a huge part of everyday life. A decent percentage of full-time workers are now fully remote, and even more are splitting time between home and the office. For a lot of people, it’s the new normal.

Now… here’s where I come in. I hate it.

I’ve seen the “work from home life” up close for years. My dad’s been doing it forever, and the struggle is real. There’s this constant assumption that if you’re home, you’re available. Need something done? “Hey, can you just…” It never stops. My mom has basically treated his workday like it’s flexible for decades.

Then during COVID, every company tried to jump on the trend—including mine. They wanted us to do the radio show from home, just like a bunch of other stations were doing. No shot.

You cannot create a great show sitting in your house, trying to keep your voice down so you don’t wake the kids or interrupt whatever’s going on around you. The energy isn’t the same. The vibe isn’t the same. Everything that makes a show feel alive just isn’t there.

Work is for work. Home is for homies. So yeah, Connecticut might be one of the best states in the country to work from home. Doesn’t mean it’s the best way to work.

The thing about writing is people try and get too fancy and show off with their ten dollar words but I think that's unnecessary. You can get your point across with just a few and leave the reader wanting more. This is why I decided to try and describe Brewster in five words or less. Please give this a quick read and then write your own.
