I grew up driving these roads, so I can say with some confidence—they’re creepy. No question about it. There are stretches where the trees feel a little too close, the silence gets a little too loud, and you catch yourself checking the rearview more than usual. But at the same time, they’re mine. I know every turn, every weird dip in the road, every spot where your headlights hit just right and make your brain play tricks on you.

Today, it’s not any kind of weekend or destination getaway but a great place to live, I would know, I grew up there. Like any small town, Putnam Lake, NY has its setbacks.
