There's not many things I love more than coffee shops. I can talk coffee all day. Local shops are my favorite, but I can go for a unique coffee chain as well. Unique as in not the Starbucks and Dunkin' coffee that's on every corner.

I get jealous of places around the country because they have so many different coffee chains that we don't necessarily have here in Connecticut. Luckily though, a new one just got expanded to our state. Something that's extremely unique about it? It is a New Orleans-Inspired chain and Connecticut is only the second state in the Northeast to get it.

PJ's Coffee started in New Orleans and has since expanded to a few states. They are known for their high quality arabica coffee beans and unique coffee experience. Their site says "when you walk into a location, you're greeted with the scent of their 100% arabica beans, invoking the soul and unique experience of our original location on Maple Street."

There are a multiple different coffee options you can get as well as pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and quick lunch sandwiches. The most important thing that stands out to me is that they are also known for their beignets. Talk about a NOLA staple.

PJ's Coffee will be opening officially opening their Connecticut location tomorrow, November 20. It will be located at 3313 Berlin Turnpike in Newington. Their hours will be Monday through Friday 6 AM - 7 PM and Saturday & Sunday 7 AM - 6 PM. Opening day will include free beignet samples and opening week will including BOGO 50% off hot or iced coffee. All of the information can be found here.

I know Newington is a little bit out of the way for our local area, but this is such a unique coffee shop that I think it's worth the trip. I can always appreciate a little bit of NOLA being brought to Connecticut. The only other location that is remotely close is in New Jersey. Most of the other locations are down south.

I'm happy Connecticut was chosen as an option to expand to. We can always use good coffee and I think a place like this can do extremely well. Bravo, PJ's Coffee. I can't wait to stop in.

Five Businesses That We Will Never, Ever See Here in Connecticut

You can get almost anything that your heart desires in the State of Connecticut, except for the products produced by these five national retailers and fast-food companies. The only way to enjoy anything from the following places is traveling out of Connecticut, or ordering it on Amazon, and a burger isn't the same after jetting across country.
