An actress from one of my favorite shows is going to run for Congress in my district. She is running for Republican John Faso’s seat, which is known as the 19th Congressional District seat in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Diane Neal, the actress who played Casey Novak on Law & Order: SVU, made the proclamation on Twitter yesterday that she’ll aim to get on the ballot as an independent. She currently lives in the district in Hurley, New York, according to her website.

Diane’s political slogan is "Empathy & Reason Diane Neal for Congress”. The NY19 district includes the entirety of Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan, and Ulster counties, and parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery, and Rensselaer counties. She needs 3,500 signatures on a petition from within the district to get herself onto the November ballot.

Diane appeared on Law & Order: SVU from 2003 to 2008, as well as from 2011 to 2012. She’s also had roles in the NCIS franchise, Suits, Blue Bloods and other productions, according to IMDB.
