It's a scene right out of National Lampoon's Vacation. Some Connecticut residents trusted their GPS a little too much, and wound up in a frozen Vermont lake.

First off, before we get to the reason behind this somewhat humorous story, I'll tell you that no one was hurt or injured in this weird accident, and the culprit seems to be the navigation app, Waze.

Apparently, these Connecticut residents were either distracted or literally followed the GPS directions a little too closely, because they wound up driving down a boat launch and onto the frozen water. After a short while, the ice gave way and the car sunk below the surface. Rescue crews where called to the scene and were able to get the vehicle back on dry land.

According to a report from wfsb.com, these type of navigation systems are the biggest culprit when it comes to distracted driving, especially when you're programming it.

According to AAA, it takes an average of 40 seconds to punch in directions and in that time, a car going 25 miles an hour will have traveled four football fields.

According to local Vermont Police, none of the passengers nor the driver of the vehicle have yet to be identified, and none of them will be facing any charges.
