Keith Richards to be Honored with First-Ever Connecticut Governor’s Award
Legendary guitarist Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones will be the first recipient of the Connecticut Governor’s Award of Excellence. Governor Ned Lamont announced the honor, in a press release. The award is about recognizing Connecticut residents who embody the state’s values of creativity, resourcefulness, passion, and generosity.

The award is brand new, established this year and it celebrates notable humans who have made significant contribution to the cultural scene in Connecticut. Keith Richards has been a Connecticut resident since 1985, and the Governor is recognizing him for his ongoing charity work throughout the state. He has supported local organizations like SPHERE, which aids adults with disabilities, and The Prospector Theater, which provides jobs through film-related initiatives.
Richards will receive the award, a custom medallion designed by Connecticut State Trooper Danny Carvalho, during a ceremony at The Westport Library tonight (March 5). Governor Lamont will also present him with a proclamation and the “Key to the State.”
Governor Lamont had this to say:
This award honors those whose creativity and generosity have made a difference. Keith Richards is a true embodiment of those qualities.
ATTENTION KEITH: We'd love to chat with you about the honor, your career and life in Connecticut on the I-95 Morning Show. Hey, you gotta shoot your shot in life, no matter how unlikely it is you hit the rim.
P.S. Just yesterday I made a comment on the I-95 Morning Show that my dad looks like Billy Joel, and he texted me and said: "I'd rather look like Keith Richards."
