The Home of Rock N' Roll has partnered with American Senior Magazine to give a nod of recognition to local seniors who've done their part in making Greater Danbury such an incredible place to live.

This week, we give a giant shout-out to Perry Shegirian from New Fairfield, who according to his daughter, Marie, is WWII Vet and was a loving husband to his wife. This is what Marie Shegirian Flanagan told us about her dad, Perry:

My dad is a first generation Armenian-American and a WWII Veteran who insisted the army take him despite his flat feet. His love of electronics led him to run the radio controls for the Army. He would go out on Navy ships and go ashore with the Marines. He actually witnessed the American Flag being raised at Iwo Jima. After the Army, my dad enrolled in NYU and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a loving husband to my mom and took great care of her until she died. He's very patient and loyal and has a great sense of humor. My dad's a member of the New Fairfield Senior Center and lives with me and my family where we all love him to pieces!

We say thank-you Perry Shegirian for making such an impact on the great town of New Fairfield.

Each week, we'll continue to highlight a Greater Danbury senior who simply makes this wonderful area a better place to live. The featured senior will receive a $50 gift card to use at an area mall and a one year subscription to American Senior Magazine. Is there a senior in your life who deserves some well-earned recognition? It could be a grandfather, aunt, friend, or even your mom. It's easy, just fill out the form below. We'll be accepting submissions between 8/21/17 and 11/21/17.
