
Greater Danbury Half Marathon and 5K Returns to War Memorial — You In?
With warmer weather finally arriving, there will be many chances to get outside, exercise, and enjoy the Spring. One of the earliest and most popular running events in the Danbury area returns to Rogers Park Sunday April 8 with the Faxon Law Greater Danbury Half Marathon and 5K.
This event attracts nearly 1000 runners to the War Memorial every year. Participants can choose from the Half Marathon which winds through Danbury, Bethel and Redding, or a 5K which stays in Danbury. The schedule of events is as follows:
7:00 a.m. – Packet pick-up and late registration
9:00 a.m. – Kids Fun Run start (1/2 mile)
9:15 a.m. – Half Marathon start
9:25 a.m. – 5K start
9:40 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Post race party with live music
10:30 a.m. – 5K awards
11:15 a.m. – Half Marathon awards
There are cash prizes to the top 3 Half Marathon finishers as well as medals for all who finish the Half Marathon, and awards for top 3 finishers in the 5K in a number of age groups.
Registration for the Kids Fun Run is free to Danbury residents thanks to Union Savings Bank. Register for the event here. Look for our station van out along the course, cranking the tunes to keep runners energized.
