According to Reader's Digest, the most popular brand of potato chip in Connecticut is Cape Cod. Cape Cod potato chips were listed as the most popular brand in four of the fifty US states, and I'm sure you can figure out that the other three states are here in New England - Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine. Our Northern New England holdouts that have been able to resist the chips from the Cape - New Hampshire and Vermont are Herr's Potato Chip territory.

Ruffles appears to be the leader overall according to rd.com, with Utz a close second, followed by Old Dutch from the upper Midwest coming in third.

State Line potato chips and Deep River Kettle Cooked are the first Connecticut-made potato chips that come to mind when I think back on some of the local legends from the past. I'm going to try to find a bag of Old Dutch soon, hopefully those beauties make their way from Michigan here some day.
