Big Drug Bust In Mahopac Leads To Two Arrests
According to the Town of Carmel Police Department, a months-long narcotics investigation in Mahopac ended recently with two arrests tied to the alleged sale of crack cocaine out of a Union Valley Road residence.

Police say the case began in the fall of 2025 when a Carmel patrol officer, responding to an unrelated call, received a tip about possible drug activity at the home. That information was passed along to detectives, who launched an investigation alongside the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the Westchester/Putnam FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
Over several months, investigators gathered enough evidence to secure search and arrest warrants for Omar Miles, 46, and Samantha Dekrell, 33, both currently living in Mahopac. The arrests were made shortly after 4 p.m. on December 22, with Miles taken into custody outside the residence and Dekrell arrested during the execution of the warrant inside the home.

Police say they seized a large amount of cash, suspected crack cocaine, and items commonly associated with drug distribution. Between them, the two suspects face a combined 15 felony charges and 10 misdemeanors related to the possession and sale of controlled substances. Dekrell was released following arraignment in Carmel Town Court, while Miles was remanded to the Putnam County Jail pending a bail hearing in Superior Court.
Honestly, this feels like a good moment to dust off that infamous Whitney Houston line — “crack is whack.” History suggests she was absolutely right on that one, even if the messenger was… complicated.
