The indefinite suspension was announced by the FPHL on Monday, January 15th in a press release. Since then fans have waited anxiously to hear what the organization thinks about losing their favorite hockey star. The wait is over, the Danbury Hat Tricks released the following statement on Thursday morning (1/18/24):

Dedicated fans of the Danbury Hat Tricks:

We appreciate your outpour of support for Daniel Amesbury and the Danbury Hat Tricks organization during this difficult time.

While we are disappointed, and do not agree with the decision to suspend Daniel indefinitely, we respect that we are in a league with other teams and that based on the agreed upon by-laws, the governing body has made this decision and will enforce these rules fairly, uniformly, and without bias across the board.

Daniel is a father of four and has been a positive member of the Danbury community. This past summer, Daniel and his family stayed in Danbury, participating in a host of team, philanthropic, and charitable activities. Daniel also spent his time on the baseball field coaching his young daughter’s tee-ball team.

Due to Daniel's unwavering commitment to Danbury and the Hat Tricks Organization, we have taken the stance to continue to embrace Daniel as an integral part of our community and will be working towards a creative repositioning of his role within our organization.

Daniel has been a tremendous part of our success and Danbury Hat Tricks history. He will always have a place in Danbury to call home where he is welcomed as the Champion he is.

Fans wishing to reach Daniel with messages of support can be directed through to this link on the team website.

For our next home game on Saturday, Jan. 27, we are asking for the following:

  • Bring printouts and photos of you with Daniel to be dropped off – the plan is to create a giant collage
  • We will have a card for fans to sign to show their support and appreciation for Daniel’s efforts with the Hat Tricks

We thank you for your support.

Rabbits Hockey Squad Cheered in Danbury's Version of Canyon of Heroes

Hockey is not exactly synonymous with a sunny May afternoon but it was all puck on Sunday in Danbury, CT. The Danbury Hat Tricks and their fans celebrated their FPHL Championship win in dramatic fashion. The team, coaches, personnel and city officials snaked their way though the D-Block in a Championship parade.

Inside the Premier Party for the Danbury Trashers Netflix Documentary

My name is Lou Milano, I am the co-host of the Ethan and Lou Morning Show on I-95. Recently, I attended the local premier of the Netflix film "Untold: Crime & Penalties" about the Danbury Trashers. The Trashers were a United Hockey League team that were around for a short time in the 2000' s in Western, CT but the team and ownership left a lasting impact.

The premier was open to the public and would take place inside the building where the Trashers played hockey, the Danbury Ice Arena. I decided to watch the movie at my house before going to the event. I wanted to use the time at the arena to interview the people in the film, and give an inside look into the night. This was my night out, with the cast of the film and the Trashers.

A Tour of the Ice Arena for the Danbury Hat Tricks Victorious Weekend

This season is underway at the Danbury Ice Arena and it began in victorious fashion. I was in the Arena for Friday and Saturday's games and I experienced the entire thing for you. Once you are done checking this out, you are going to buy tickets, that is not a threat, it's just what is going to happen.

There is something for everyone inside that arena, even if you don't like hockey. There were a ton of activities to be a part of in the Arena, even if you don't like hockey. That's not my style, if I go for a game I want to watch it but all the extras don't hurt the experience one bit,

Danbury Officials Throw Parade for UFC Champ + Hat City Resident Glover Teixeira

Glover Teixeira had already met with the new Mayor Elect and was swarmed by fight fans and Hat City residents in Roger Park. All that was left to do was an official parade and ceremony for the public which took place on Sunday November 14, 2021. Flanked by local officials Glover took a ride down Main Street to Rogers Park where he was gifted a plaque commemorating his victory over Jan Blachowicz.
