Cord-Cutters: There’s a New Television Station in Connecticut
There are still a lot of cable tv subscribers who haven't cut the cord in Connecticut, and I'm one of them. I still fork over $160 a month to a national provider. Why? Program options. Our local CBS tv affiliate has just started up a new free tv station with 5 sub-channels, free viewing options anyone?
I can't remember the last time that a new television channel was announced in Hartford or New Haven, but Hartford's WFSB has announced that WWAX is now broadcasting 5 new free tv channels here in Connecticut from their transmitter site in Avon. WWAX is channel 27, and you'll have to rescan your 'Over the air-Antenna" channels in your settings in order to pick it up. If you're a chump like me who still pays for cable, WWAX will be on channel 113 on Altice in New Haven and Litchfield Counties, and channel 8 in Fairfield county. If you're a Cox Cable subscriber in Connecticut,, you'll find WWAX on channel 19.
I took a look through WWAX's programming schedule, and there are 5 new tv stations in all. WWAX 27.1 is a mix of WFSB's news rebroadcasts, automotive shows, poker and a Catholic Mass. Channel 27.2 is branded Charge! And it features reruns of CSI, Chips, and Without a Trace. Channel 27.3 is Eyewitness News Now, with up-to-the-minute news and weather from WFSB.
Channel 27.4 is Fido TV, for all of us dog lovers. Finally Channel 27.5 is called 'Cornstore' and features a slew of paid programming shows. Is this enough to make me take the giant cord-cutting leap? Ehhhhh. Free is nice though WFSB, thanks for offering us options.
