Connecticut Man Hits 119 MPH Through Active Construction Zone
According to a press release from the CT State Police, a Stratford man was arrested for speeding at a face-melting 119 mph through a construction zone on I-95 in Norwalk.

Authorities say on March 17, 2025, at around 10:36 PM, Troopers from Troop G - Bridgeport spotted a blue Infiniti zipping through the construction zone near exit 16. The posted speed limit was just 55 mph but to hell with that, right? The driver, Rakeim Thompson, was apparently in a hurry—maybe he’s trying to beat Elon Musk to the flying car race or maybe he thought 119 mph was the magic number to send him back to 1955 (a small mix-up with Doc Brown’s calculations).
Luckily, Troopers didn’t have to chase him for long. They pulled Thompson over and arrested him without further incident. He was later processed and slapped with a couple of serious charges. He’s due in court on April 8, 2025.
Charges:
- Reckless Driving in a Construction Zone (C.G.S. 14-222)
- Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree (C.G.S. 53a-64)
Thompson was released on a $2,000 bond.
This guy doing 119 mph isn’t exactly breaking new ground when it comes to speeding (allegedly). Just a week ago, I published an article about three people in Connecticut getting arrested for driving over 100 mph on the same day (March 8, 2025). And no, it wasn’t some Fast & Furious Street takeover—these were three separate incidents in three different parts of the state.
Doing 80 is so 2024, 100 mph+ is what's up in 2025.
