Their pick? Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven. No surprise there. According to Eat This, Not That, Pepe’s stands out not just for its legendary coal-fired ovens, but for hitting the century mark — 100 years of turning out those blistered thin-crust Tomato Pies topped with crushed Italian tomatoes, olive oil, and pecorino cheese. And of course, there’s the famous White Clam Pizza, loaded with garlicky clams, oregano, and more pecorino — a Connecticut original that somehow manages to taste like the shoreline and heaven at the same time.

Nips are one of Connecticut’s great divides—people either love them or hate them. Fans say they’re fun and harmless; critics say they’re trash, literally. The state’s Nickel-Per-Nip program was meant to clean things up by sending five cents from every sale back to local towns, but opinions are split on whether it’s working. According to Wine & Spirit Wholesalers of Connecticut, the stats below cover the April 1–Sept. 30, 2025 period for the Greater Danbury Area.
