New York Has a Strong Swinging Scene, While Connecticut Ranks Much Lower
According to a study from Love Honey, New York has one of the more active swinging scenes in the country, while Connecticut lands considerably farther down the list. The study looked at public indicators connected to the lifestyle, rather than attempting to determine how many people actually participate.

Researchers considered nine factors, including Google searches for swinger-related terms, the number of clubs, activity on Reddit, bars and hotels per capita, and the percentage of married residents. They specifically point out that the rankings are not a count of swingers living in each state, since private relationships are, well, private.
New York comes in at No. 8 nationally, with an overall score of 47.2 out of 100. The state has 30 swingers clubs, which is the fifth-highest total in the country. New York also recorded approximately 19,000 weekly visitors to its swinger-related Reddit community, along with about 1,000 weekly contributions.
The study says New York also benefits from its nightlife infrastructure, with about 16.6 bars per 100,000 residents. So between the clubs, online interest and all the places to grab a drink, New York appears to have plenty of options for adults interested in the lifestyle.
Connecticut tells a very different story.
The Nutmeg State ranked No. 36, with an overall score of 29.2. Connecticut had just four swingers clubs included in the study, along with roughly 11,000 weekly Reddit visitors and 801 weekly contributions. The state scored 25 for one of the search-interest measures, 33 for another, and 47 for “sex clubs” search interest.
For comparison, Florida took the No. 1 spot with a score of 62.6 and 148 clubs, while Texas and Georgia rounded out the top three.
So, according to this particular study, New York appears to be considerably more active than Connecticut. But Love Honey stresses that the rankings are based on public indicators—not a definitive measure of private behavior.
