CT Police K-9 Argo Retires After Years of Service to Brookfield

According to a release from the Brookfield Police Department, one of the town's most respected officers is officially hanging up the badge—although in this case, the officer has four legs and a tail.

After a decade of service, K-9 Argo has officially retired from duty, bringing an end to a career that helped keep Brookfield and surrounding communities safer for countless residents.

Throughout his ten years on the force, Argo worked alongside Sgt. Jeff Osuch and became a critical member of the department. Police say the highly trained K-9 assisted in tracking down missing people, locating lost individuals, helping apprehend criminal suspects and supporting numerous investigations. Argo also played an important role in detecting illegal narcotics, using his specialized training and impressive sense of smell to assist officers in the field.

While most people only see police dogs during demonstrations or public events, K-9 units are often involved in some of the most important and challenging situations officers face. Over the years, Argo built a reputation as a dependable partner who could be counted on whenever he was called into action.

Now that his law enforcement career is over, Argo's schedule is expected to become a lot less stressful. Instead of tracking suspects and searching for evidence, his future plans reportedly include relaxing, chasing squirrels and keeping Sgt. Osuch busy at home.

As one chapter closes, another begins for the Brookfield Police Department.

The department is welcoming K-9 Goku as the newest member of its Emergency Services Unit K-9 team. Goku is partnered with Officer Travis Kullgren and has already completed extensive training and certification in suspect apprehension, handler protection, tracking, evidence recovery, building and area searches, crowd control and firearm detection.

Brookfield Police also recognized the assistance of the Stamford Police Department's canine unit for its continued support in training and developing police K-9 teams.

While Goku prepares to begin his career, today belongs to Argo. Ten years of service is an impressive accomplishment for any officer, and judging by the department's tribute, it's clear Argo left a lasting impact on both the officers he worked with and the community he served.

Enjoy retirement, Argo. You've definitely earned it.
