Want a Career in Public Safety? Ridgefield Is Hiring a 911 Dispatcher
According to a release from the Ridgefield Police Department, Ridgefield Public Safety Communications is looking to add a new 911 dispatcher to its emergency communications center.

This is one of those jobs where you probably don't want to be the person who panics easily. Dispatchers are often the first point of contact when somebody calls 911, which means they have to gather information, stay focused and communicate clearly while dealing with people who may be having the worst day of their lives.
The Town of Ridgefield is currently looking for someone to fill a dispatcher position within its Public Safety Communications operation. The department describes the job as a public-safety career for someone who can think quickly, remain composed and handle a constantly changing situation.
And while the person answering the phone isn't the one physically responding to an emergency, the dispatcher plays an important role in getting the right help where it needs to go. That can mean taking information from a caller, figuring out what is happening and communicating those details to the appropriate emergency personnel.

The department is encouraging people interested in public safety careers to consider applying. You don't have to be a police officer or firefighter to have a role in emergency response, and dispatch is one of the positions that keeps the entire operation moving.
The Ridgefield Police Department has posted the position through PoliceApp, where potential applicants can find the job listing and application information.
So, if you're somebody who can keep your cool when everything around you is going sideways, this could be an interesting opportunity. The department is looking for a motivated and quick-thinking person to become part of its emergency communications center.
The application is available online through PoliceApp, and the position is with the Town of Ridgefield’s Public Safety Communications operation.
