The Best Deli in Connecticut Has Been Revealed
There are few feelings that are as good, as the one you'll get when you pick up your favorite sandwich, from your favorite deli when you're hungry. Some loudmouth deli owner is shouting, sweating, and just trying to survive the lunch rush. He gives you a smile, hands you your favorite meal wrapped in butcher paper, and you know you’re about to have a moment. That split second before you take your first bite. That’s pure joy.

Luckily for us, Connecticut is absolutely loaded with delis. Honestly, it feels like we’ve got at least one solid deli in every other plaza across the Nutmeg State. It’s one of the reasons I’ll never leave — you can find a sandwich worth bragging about pretty much anywhere.

But here’s the big question: which one is the best? Well, according to a new publication from Taste of Home (as shared by MSN), the honor goes to a spot in Vernon. Yeah, Vernon. Maybe not the first place you’d guess, but here’s what they had to say.
They named Rein’s New York Style Deli & Restaurant in Vernon the top dog. In their words, “It’s a staple in Connecticut and beyond.” Taste of Home contributor Ruth Hartunian-Alumbaugh gave Rein’s high praise for its traditional and unique menu, saying it truly has something for everyone. Think bagels, bialys, stacked deli meats, and of course, the kind of sour garlic pickles that could change your day. Customers also rave about the massive sandwiches and the wide range of gluten-free options, so nobody feels left out.
So, there you have it — Rein’s is officially the king of Connecticut delis. If you’ve never been, maybe it’s time for a road trip to Vernon. Just don’t be surprised if you walk out with a sandwich the size of your head.
You had me at "massive sandwiches" Ruth. Say no more.
