‘Weird Al’ Yankovic at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury 1994, Video Released
'Weid Al' Yankovic has been making people laugh since the late 70's. While in high school, Al would make guest appearances on the Dr. Demento radio show. Yankovic eventually toured with Demento and he was a household name in America by the late 80's with the hit song "Eat It," a parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It."
Al brought his own demented stage show to Danbury in August of 1994 when he played on-stage at Tuxedo Junction. This is Al's set-list from that night:
- Money For Nothing
- Lasagna
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- One More Minute
- Generic Blues
- Drum Solo
- Food Medley
- Bass Solo
- Jurassic Park
- You Don't Love Me Anymore
- Achy Breaky Song
- Smells Like Nirvana
- Bedrock Anthem
- Fat
- Keyboard Solo
- Headline News
- Yoda
This video was recently published (1/29/21) to Youtube but the fun had in it, happened a long time ago.
Of course, Weird Al did the vocals and accordion, it was Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz on drums, Steve Jay played bass, Jim "Kimo" West played guitar and banjo, finally Ruben Valtierra played the keyboard.
I've never had the pleasure of seeing Al play live but I've never heard a bad word. The reviews are always very similar, people will say they went curious and left blown away at how talented he is and how much fun they had.
I'm not really a fan of song parodies, it just isn't my thing but I can tell when someone loves what they do and Al's energy is contagious. We were lucky enough to have Al on the Ethan and Lou Show a few years back and he was one of the nicest guests that has ever been on the show.
People remember those things because I remember the A-holes just as much. I'm talking to you Vincent Pastore (Sopranos).
