Up-to-Date Connecticut State Police Holiday Traffic Enforcement Statistics
After working extensively around the clock with increased traffic safety patrols, the Connecticut State Police have released their first round of holiday enforcement statistics.
Between midnight on Thursday into Friday (December 22) and 11:59 PM on Tuesday (December 26), Connecticut State Troopers have issued 465 speeding violations, 13 seat belt violations, 28 DUI arrests, and 1,104 violations that are considered to be hazardous, such as cell phone use while driving, unsafe lane changes, tailgating, and failure to signal.
State troopers also investigated 521 car accidents, 58 of which had associated injuries. Out of the accidents, there was one fatality. 32-year-old Patrick Dunn of New London, passed away after his truck traveled off of Hartford Turnpike in Hampton and struck a house.
The State PD says that the increased holiday traffic enforcement initiative will resume today and continue through 11:59 PM on Monday night (January 1).
