In my humble opinion, sandwiches stand as the pinnacle of human culinary achievement, with burritos trailing closely behind. Bowls? Trash. The bowl craze of the 2020s is one of the worst fads I've seen since the Hypercolor t-shirt.

Bowls are a beige wall. And let’s not even talk about shoveling food straight into your face like some uncivilized beast, when that very meal could have been easily tucked inside a bread-based vessel for a much more delightful and efficient face-to-food experience.

Now, let’s be real – not all sandwiches are created equal. Some are mere mortals in the world of bread, but others transcend the basic, elevating the humble sandwich to something almost spiritual. We're talking about the sandwich sages, the bread whisperers, the culinary visionaries who know the divine art of sandwich-making.

And speaking of such masters, there's a spot right here in Connecticut that serves sandwiches so life-changing, they’ll make you rethink everything you thought you knew about food. It's a café in Norwalk that recently earned the prestigious title of having the 20th best sandwich in America, not to mention the best in the entire Constitution State.

Introducing... The Dilly Duck Shop. Located in Norwalk, CT, this unassuming little gem just made waves when Beyond the Journey released a list titled “50 States, 50 Sandwiches: Must-Try Shops for Travelers, According to Yelp." And guess what? The Duck was recognized for their sandwich artistry, leaving Yelp to declare:

Don’t let the name fool you! The Dilly Duck Shop is serious about sandwiches. This small but mighty spot is hidden in Norwalk, best known for their duck confit sandwich, featuring slow-cooked, fall-apart-tender duck, a tangy cherry compote, and a handful of crispy onions for texture. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a menu that feels more like a chef’s passion project than a standard sandwich joint.

These S.O.B.'s know they are sandwich engineers, just look how they describe what a "Dilly Duck Shop" is:

"Short for workshop, “Shop” is where our craft meets art.  We love to blend solid cooking technique with a touch of creativity to fashion an atmosphere of discovery and festive cheer. As for “The Dilly Duck”, its just a funky little duck that embodies our Connecticut spirit:  industrious, refined, and splendidly proud."

Good use of words duck team! You can check out their work Tue-Sat by going to 666 Main Avenue in Norwalk. The Dilly Duck Shop has a 4.8 rating on Yelp and a 4.9 rating on Trip Advisor. Check out some of these reviews:

Clare C: The food here is so fresh and delicious, the service extremely helpful and pleasant, and the coffee - exquisite! The place has such a cool vibe, too. Hubs and I had lattes, pesto chicken sandwiches with house-made slaw, lattes, and brought home some delicious baked goods. Can’t wait to return!

jppjr503: Went to The Dilly Duck Shop on a recommendation from a friend. Had the Beef and Egg sandwich and a cup of medium roast coffee. The sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I have had in a long time! The coffee was great also! I highly recommend The Dilly Duck Shop!

CTtraveler79: This place has everything you could ask for. Everything I’ve ever ordered has been absolutely delicious, fresh and creative, the restaurant is always immaculate, and the people couldn’t be nicer. Definitely a favorite.

Sounds like I need to check this place out, first I'll Google "What is duck confit?"
