The closure was for an event that was called the Danbury Street Festival.

There were vendors as far as the eye could see, live music and activities for kids including the "Family Fun Zone", courtesy of Macaroni Kid & Ventura Law.

That's my son Lucas, I tried to get him to smile but you know teenagers. This event was a post-COVID exclamation of freedom.

I was counting down the days for this because this kind of festival was the reason I moved to Downtown Danbury. We moved here during COVID, so anything the city had planned in that time period was cancelled or delayed.

This event ran from Noon – 6 PM, and then they moved the party to the Green for more live free music.

The kids were able to keep up with the excitement but it took a lot out of some of the adults like Danbury resident Phil Loch. City Center Danbury put a lot of effort into the event. City Center Manager Laz Chavez shared his enthusiasm, saying:

“We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers to assist in putting this together, while helping the restoration of Downtown Danbury.  Events like the Danbury Street Festival showcase our city and demonstrate the value of having a cultural hub in the heart of Danbury."

All events like these are designed to draw dollars to the area, and I think the Street Festival did the trick on Saturday. We went to Los Rivera for a drink afterwards and then had dinner at Pippa's. Hopefully the city will see fit to do this again next year.

That's my wife Erica waiting for our daughter Vida to get her face painted. That face-painting was a huge hit with the kids. Isn't she pretty?

The next time I say come out to Danbury for an event, do it, it's always a good time.

P.S. My friends are creepers. I can't step away for two seconds without them taking a pic of me looking like I am up to no good.
