116 cities are rated against one another and each year Bridgeport does poorly. Things have changed in 2023 but not for the better. In 2022 Bridgeport was named the 112th Hardest working city, this year (2023) Bridgeport is the 113th hardest working city.

This year's Hardest Working City is San Francisco, CA. The second hardest-working city is Anchorage, Alaska which was last year's #1. Here are the Top 10:

1. San Francisco, CA

2. Anchorage, AK

3. Irving, TX

4. Virginia Beach, VA

5. Washington, DC

6. Sioux Falls, SD

7. Norfolk, VA

8. Cheyenne, WY

9. Dallas, TX

10. Austin, TX

So how do they come up with these rankings? They start with the 116 most populous cities and measure them on a variety of factors. The factors include but are not limited to:

  • Average Workweek in Hours
  • Share of Workers Who Leave Vacation Time Unused
  • Average Commute Time
  • Average Leisure Time

Each factor carries a specific weight and blah, blah, blah. There is one key finding that we should all be proud of. The study found that Americans work 25% harder than our European counterparts. BOOM! MERICA!

Is Bridgeport lazy? I have no idea, I don't live there, but when you get your ass whooped by Little Rock, Arkansas, it is time to take a look in the mirror as a community.

P.S. If you live in Bridgeport and are pissed about this ranking, you're likely not part of the problem. Anyone who cares enough about work, typically works hard. This ranking is for the people who wake up everyday and say I don't care. This ranking is for the people who can do almost nothing everyday and still look themselves in the mirror.

I never work for my employer, I put the work in that allows me to be able to look myself in the mirror. That is a high bar but I get a real sense of fulfillment when I do reach it.

P.S. #2 - Fat Joe said he and his friends had to fight his way out of Bridgeport to stay alive.
