I have a favor to ask of a few in Connecticut: Stop hoarding, leave a few zucchini flowers for the rest of us, please?

I've stopped at numerous grocery stores and markets: Torrington, Waterbury, Bethel, New Milford, Bantam, Southbury, and Watertown. Every road side farm stand has plenty of zucchini, no flower. I cannot find zucchini flower anywhere. This is the third year in a row, I know I'm going to strike out. I'm getting angry, zucchini is still one of the only really cheap vegetables. The flowers are worth their weight in gold around here.

Have you ever tried?  The flowers are orangey-yellowish, it's a flower for that the bees pollinate. They have a very delicate flavor, incredible when properly cooked. I love them dredged in pancake-consistency flour, stuffed with ricotta or mootz, and dusted with Parmesan. Here's a video of some flowers being cooked that I found from Abetina Cookery on YouTube-

Some of the best that I've had in the past few years have been from restaurants in Waterbury. D'Amelio's, and La Tavola, on Highland Avenue both make incredible versions. Zucchini flowers are on the specials menu right now at San Marino Ristorante on Thomaston Ave in the Colonial Plaza, you might see me there tonight. I loved them at Tiramisu on East Main Street too.

Someone asked on Reddit where they could find fried zucchini blossoms in Connecticut just over a month ago, Kingsley Tavern in Kent, Adrianna's Restaurant in New Haven, and Treva in West Hartford were all mentioned among the comments. Good luck finding some yourself, I'll see you in the produce aisles.

Which Businesses Silll Draw You In WIth Music in Connecticut?

I like it when a business uses music to set a vibe and draw you in. It could be a grocery store, a restaurant, a bodega, I don't care, I love it when places get it right. Here are some of the places around Connecticut that I think do it well.
