Undue Medical Debt partners up with state and local governments to purchase large portfolios of medical debt owed by patients who live with income at or below the poverty line ($31,200 for a family of 4) from local hospitals and other medical providers at a fraction of their face value. Does this sound too good to be true? Believe it, it's true.

Undue Medical Debt has recently acquired $30 million dollars in qualifying medical debt of residents of the State of Connecticut from collections agencies and a national provider. There is no application process, and you cannot request Undue Medical Debt to pay off your debt. But, if your medical debt has been identified, and you qualify, Undue Medical Debt will start sending out letters of notification beginning on December 23, 2024.

Governor Lamont recently signed legislation enacting a new law that prohibits Connecticut health care providers and hospitals from reporting a person's medical debt to credit ratings agencies also. It might be time to get this kidney stone looked at?
