Dudleytown: The Secret, the Legend, and the Mystery in Cornwall, CT
For years, Dudleytown has been a topic that’s haunted my mind — literally and figuratively.

I first wrote about it in 2015, mostly as a fun Halloween curiosity. But over time, it morphed into an obsession, especially between 2019 and 2021. What started as surface-level intrigue about an old “ghost town” grew into a deep dive into secrecy, strange stories, and unanswered questions.
I sent Freedom of Information requests, interviewed paranormal investigators, and sifted through police reports — only to encounter roadblocks, redactions, and defensive responses. The more I dug, the more Dudleytown seemed less like a forgotten piece of history and more like a place guarding a secret it doesn't want the public to know.

I’ve been saying this from the very beginning—if this group is truly all about land conservation, then there shouldn’t be anything to hide. In fact, you’d expect them to welcome questions and conversations about their mission. But that’s not the case here. Instead, they go out of their way to avoid answering even the simplest questions, they dismiss any comments or concerns, and they seem genuinely bothered—almost offended—by any media attention. It’s that kind of defensive behavior that keeps fueling the curiosity around Dudleytown.
