The study looked at ghost sightings across North America, comparing how many were reported per 10,000 people. If you guessed Florida might take the top spot, you’d be wrong — though, to be fair, some of those “ghosts” in Florida are on enough chemicals to drop a small horse.

Nope, the most haunted state in the U.S. is actually New York, which totally checks out if you’ve ever taken the subway after midnight. Here’s how the list shakes out:

Are we the most haunted state in the nation? I don’t know. But one of the least haunted? That’s straight-up poppycock.
