Which State is More Haunted, Connecticut or New York?
Casino.ca just dropped a new report ranking the most haunted states in America — and it poses an important question: who’s got more ghosts, Connecticut or New York? The answer might surprise you.
The study looked at ghost sightings across North America, comparing how many were reported per 10,000 people. If you guessed Florida might take the top spot, you’d be wrong — though, to be fair, some of those “ghosts” in Florida are on enough chemicals to drop a small horse.

Nope, the most haunted state in the U.S. is actually New York, which totally checks out if you’ve ever taken the subway after midnight. Here’s how the list shakes out:
Most Haunted States:
- New York
- Texas
- Louisiana
- California
- Utah
- Florida
- Pennsylvania
- Alabama
- Nevada
- Washington

And on the other end — where the ghosts apparently can’t be bothered:
Least Haunted States:
- Georgia
- Maine
- Nebraska
- Indiana
- Connecticut
- New Jersey
- New Hampshire
- Rhode Island
- Iowa
Now, this makes absolutely no sense. Stay with me — yes, New York is definitely haunted. But you can’t walk five feet in Connecticut without tripping over a ghost story. We’ve got Dudleytown, the Melon Heads, the Annabelle doll, the Warren Occult Museum, Derby’s Sterling Opera House, the Black Dog of the Hanging Hills, the Lady in White, Vampire City, and let’s not forget — Connecticut even has its own Headless Horseman tale.
Are we the most haunted state in the nation? I don’t know. But one of the least haunted? That’s straight-up poppycock.
