He has been dubbed “Jeopardy James” with good reason.

If you are a fan of the show, you already know that James Holzhauer has won for the 24th time on the popular game show, Jeopardy!. The 34-year-old professional gambler has won $1,867,142 so far, and doesn’t show any signs of stopping his winning streak.

In addition to having the second longest winning streak in Jeopardy’s history, Holzhauer has helped the show enjoy its greatest ratings in 14 years, according to the New York Times . There’s even a “James Holzhauer Tracker” on the show’s website – a little hokey, but fun none the less. Ken Jennings is the current record holder, winning over $2.5 million over the course of 74 games in 2004.

What’s his secret? It’s an aggressive strategy, selecting the higher value clues rather than starting low. He almost always finds the “Daily Doubles” where his gambling acumen comes in. He consistently wagers half to all of this cash. He has also mastered the art of the Jeopardy buzzer – not buzzing in too early or too late, allowing him to answer most of the questions on the board. And yes, he answers almost all of them correctly. How can one person know that much trivia about so many different topics?

His calm demeanor and quirky personality coupled with his vast amount of knowledge makes Jeopardy James fun to watch and root for.
