Is Dip Connecticut’s Super Bowl MVP? Discover The Odd Pick in North Dakota!
Super Bowl Sunday is more than just the highly anticipated championship game—it’s also the country’s “second-largest food consumption day,” right behind Thanksgiving. While everyone’s gearing up for the big game, one thing that never fails to grab attention is the snacks.

From dips to desserts, these delicious face treats are a central part of the festivities. But which Super Bowl snacks reign supreme across the United States?
A deep dive into the data reveals some surprising trends about which foods are most-loved by fans in each state. Researchers from Coffeeness analyzed search volume data from December 2023 to March 2024, covering more than 1,300 food types and around 300 dessert-related keywords to determine the most popular snacks leading up to and following Super Bowl Sunday. What’s fascinating is how food preferences vary from state to state, highlighting some regional favorites that may surprise you—particularly when it comes to Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.
Connecticut’s Favorite Super Bowl Snack: Buffalo Chicken Dip
When it comes to Connecticut’s top Super Bowl snack, the clear winner is Buffalo chicken dip. This creamy, spicy dip topped with melted cheese has claimed the top spot in Connecticut and 28 other states across the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast. Whether served with chips, veggies, or a side of toast, Buffalo chicken dip is the go-to comfort food for many Super Bowl watchers in the Constitution State.
New York and New Jersey: A Taste of Tradition with a Twist
Moving on to neighboring New York and New Jersey, the Super Bowl snacks take on their own flair. In New York, the big game is often paired with classic American staples—hot dogs and pizza. Surprisingly, pizza didn’t claim the top spot in the search rankings, but it’s still a firm favorite in the state. Similarly, New Jersey follows suit with its love for pizza, hot dogs, and even the occasional garlic knot to add some extra flavor to the mix.
The Strange and Unexpected: Knoephla Soup
Now, here's where things get really interesting—enter Knoephla soup. A hearty, German-inspired dish commonly found in North Dakota, Knoephla soup features a creamy broth filled with dumplings, potatoes, chicken, and vegetables. Although it's popular in North Dakota, it’s not exactly the first food that comes to mind when thinking about Super Bowl snacks. Still, it managed to land the top spot for the state, showing that even a comforting bowl of soup can be a game-day favorite.
It’s a bit strange, though, if you’ve never heard of Knoephla soup before. For many, this Midwestern delicacy is a well-kept secret, and it’s certainly not something you’d expect to see on a typical Super Bowl menu.
