I-95 Exclusive: ‘Singles’ Actor Campbell Scott on Growing up in Westchester
Tomorrow night, February 15th, actor Campbell Scott will be performing for one night only in A.R. Gurney's Love Letters at the The BOK at the Sharon Playhouse, opposite Gretchen Mol.
You may recognize Campbell from his roles in Dying Young, Singles and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. He's bringing his talents to Connecticut for this special performance, and we had the chance to speak with him during the Thursday (2/5/25) edition of the I-95 Morning Show. Here's our favorite moment from the conversation.
Lou: Your local ties run deep, correct me if I'm wrong but you went to high school in Westchester, NY with Stanley Tucci, you went to John Jay High School?
Campbell: "I certainly did, I went to John Jay High School in Cross River, NY. I was raised in South Salem which is the less ritzy of the Salems and right near Ridgefield, Connecticut. I'm old so back then it was real rural but now it's a little built up but it's a beautiful place to grow up."
Lou: Were you pals with Stanley Tucci?
Campbell: "Oh God yeah, we did plays together at the very end of high school. I was a pothead and sort of not interested, and he got me into a couple things. That is probably when the seed was planted."
Lou: That's a talented high school right there, holy crap!
Campbell: "We had a great theater teacher. I was scared of all that and all of the girls etcetera but that was the place to go if you wanted to express yourself. We had a wonderful teacher named Gil Freeman who for years and years directed great productions and stuff like that. You know that's where it all starts, a good teacher, a good place, something like that."
