From Stamford to Danbury: Revealing the Top 5 Snobbiest Places in Connecticut
Back in 2021, I wrote an article about snobbery in Connecticut.
The gist was, Connecticut ranked as the 3rd snobbiest state in the U.S. The study looked at how much wine people consumed in each state, factored in graduation rates, considered how many people got their degree in arts or humanities and added in how many top-tier universities are in each state.
When all was said and done we were #3 behind only Massachusetts (1) and Vermont (2).
New research from Road Snacks has given us a chance to look even deeper and see The Snobbiest places in Connecticut. Road Snacks used "Saturday Night Science" and examined 21 of the state's most populous areas over 9,000 people. They and looked at similar factors like:
- Expensive Homes
- Incomes
- Educated Population
After the "Saturday Night Science" was concluded, this was the Top 5 Snobbiest places in Connecticut.
1. Stamford
2. Shelton
3. Norwalk
4. Milford
5. Danbury
See the rest of the list here.

After reading the results I was surprised because I've seen lists like this one before and the towns that were ranked highest seemed a bit more predictable. Here is a Top 5 from from Town & Country in 2015:
1. Darien
2. Greenwich
3. Old Greenwich
4. Weston
5. New Canaan
I think the folks who conducted the "Saturday Night Science" did not factor in "The Ridge" after midnight, our 1,000 liquor stores or dig into the machetes per household data. These days, people don't agree on anything but I'll bet if I asked 10 people if Danbury is more snobby than Greenwich they'd shout "hell no" in unison.
I'm not suggesting there is no snobbish behavior here; we do have a badass food scene and a butt load of highly accomplished individuals. There is bound to be a snob smear somewhere in the Hat City.
