Quirky Connecticut Quest: Find Every Village Sign in the State
Recently, I was scrolling through the Connecticut Reddit page (I do this a lot) and came across a post that grabbed my attention immediately.
It came from u/Savings_Barracuda_90 who wrote:

"Connecticut native with a weird fixation here...Does anyone know the correct name of these signs?
In 2025, I’m on a mission to find and photograph (for myself) every single one of them in the state—within one year. I started in January, and as of writing this, I’ve found 57 and photographed 21.
When I first started the project, I assumed every town had one. I even built a spreadsheet with every registered village or CDP I could find. But then, things got weird.
I started finding signs that weren’t even on my list. Meanwhile, towns and villages I thought for sure had a sign—don’t. The first 15 I found were all on Connecticut state roads, but then I started spotting them on U.S. highways too.
I began to wonder if the signs were related to ZIP codes, so I looked into which highways they appeared on. But it wasn’t until recently that I started to suspect maybe these signs are tied to population.
That theory might not be perfect, but it won’t stop me from hunting them all down. Still, if anyone out there knows more about what these signs actually are or how they’re assigned, I’d love to hear it. Any insight would help the hunt."

Why did this grab me? Because it honestly sounds like the most relaxing hobby imaginable. No stress, no big expenses, no unnecessary hassle. Just me, the road, and a quiet mission.
Along the way, you get to soak in Connecticut’s rolling hills and charming little villages—the stuff that makes this state both beautiful and kind of underrated.
I’m honestly mad I didn’t think of this first. But I’m fully rooting for Savings Barracuda to crush their goal. And if they ever decide to turn this into a book—with the photos and the stories behind them—I’ll be first in line to buy it.
Brilliant, sir. Brilliant, ma’am. Gender irrelevant—BRILLIANT. And seriously, so damn relaxing.
