Dudes of Connecticut: Do You Also Have a Freckle on Your Left Arm?
It's not often that posts on Reddit.com stop me in my tracks, but this one hit me right in the mole. A Reddit.com post under #mildly interesting states "If you're a dude, you probably have a freckle on your left arm in the same spot", and holy hell, I do.
I've got to do more research, this is intriguing. I believe the Reddit.com post was in response to an article on Time.com from 2019 titled "There's a Simple Reason why So Many People Have the Same Freckle". According to the article, and a board-certified dermatologist, our forearms, wrists and hands are exposed to harmful UV rays more so than other parts of our bodies. Moles or beauty marks are "Harmless overgrowths of pigment producing cells, causing small brown spots on your skin.' Hmmmm, I always thought it was from my Italian grandmother, and the small olive pits that course through my veins and settle on my skin is my inheritance.
Time.com's article goes on to explain that beauty marks, moles, and freckles are all very common and natural, and it shouldn't be surprising that by a certain age most of us have been exposed to the UV rays that cause our common left-arm mole.
I've had an issue with skin tags since I was a teenager, and I've had dozens lopped off of sensitive parts of my body. I had the mole that was on my left cheek frozen off a couple of years ago after I noticed that it was getting larger. Should you keep your eye on them? Absolutely, especially if you notice that your freckle/mole is changing shapes or color. I'm going to be staring at everyone's arms for the next month, thanks Redditt.
