There are a lot of fundraisers that pop up around Connecticut this time of year, but this one actually sounds like a perfect excuse to eat a giant steak and do something positive at the same time. The Danbury Police Department is teaming up with Texas Roadhouse in Danbury tonight for a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut, and honestly, this feels like one of those events the Greater Danbury community always rallies around.

The event is happening tonight, May 14, from 5 to 8 PM at the Texas Roadhouse on Newtown Road in Danbury. According to the event flyer, Danbury Police officers will actually be helping serve customers during the fundraiser, which means you can enjoy dinner while supporting an organization that creates opportunities for Special Olympics athletes across Connecticut.

The best part is that 100 percent of the tips collected during the event will go directly to Special Olympics Connecticut. That’s the kind of fundraiser people can feel good about supporting because you know exactly where the money is going. Go out for dinner, leave a generous tip, and you’re helping local athletes in a real and meaningful way.

Also, let’s be honest, Texas Roadhouse might be one of the most dangerous places in Connecticut if you’re trying to “just grab a quick bite.” You walk in thinking maybe you’ll show some restraint, and suddenly you’re inhaling basket after basket of rolls with that cinnamon butter before your meal even gets to the table. It happens to the best of us.

This is one of those classic community events that just works. You’ve got local police officers, a busy Danbury restaurant, and support for Special Olympics all coming together under one roof. Not a bad way to spend a Thursday night in the Nutmeg State.

CT Named Hot Spot for UFO Sightings, 5 Towns You're Most Likely to See One

According to the NY Post, in honor of National Alien Abduction Daycasino.ca ranked U.S. states by UFO sightings. California led with over 36,000 reports, while Louisiana had the least. With 182,000 sightings nationwide, the odds of an abduction are 1 in 1,833. Connecticut was ranked #11 in the nation which is pretty high. This had me wondering which CT communities get the most sightings? Thanks to Stacker on "the web" I was able to find the Top 5.
