According to a release from the City of Danbury, there’s still time to sign up for a great local event that helps support the people who served our country. The Danbury War Memorial’s 17th Annual Golf Tournament is set for Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Richter Park Golf Course.

This is more than just a day on the course. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the War Memorial and help fund veteran services, events, ceremonies, and the annual StandDown program, one of the region’s biggest efforts to connect veterans and members of the military community with critical resources and support.

The tournament will use a scramble format with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start. Registration and lunch begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a full day of golf and an evening dinner with open bar at the Café on the Green.

The entry fee is $185 per person or $740 for a foursome. That includes greens fees, cart, buffet lunch, a raffle ticket, cash prizes for the top three finishers, long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, a hole-in-one car prize opportunity, plus buffet dinner and open bar afterward. Honestly, that’s a pretty loaded day.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for local businesses that want to get involved, including lunch, dinner, cocktail hour, cart, beverage cart, and tee sign packages.

The Danbury War Memorial has served the city’s recreational, athletic, and cultural needs since 1951, while also honoring members of the armed forces. Their motto says it all: To Honor the Dead, To Serve the Living.

If you’d like to play, sponsor, or donate, you can register now at war-memorial.org/golf.

8 Fun Facts About Danbury Airport

I think there are a handful of places in Danbury that residents are really curious about but never bother to look into, one of those places is the Danbury Airport. We pass it on the way to the mall, or leaving after a day of shopping. We look down on it from Route 7 and wonder about it, but most of us simply don’t know.

Thankfully, we have Mike Allen who made the airport the subject of the most recent episode of “The Place You Live”. On Tuesday (2/1/22), Allen shared his research with us and these are 8 fun facts we learned about Danbury Airport.

But the moment an out-of-state visits, you remember oh right, none of this is normal. Connecticut is full of quirks that are perfectly reasonable to us and completely baffling to everyone else.
