Danbury Fair Mall Department Store Part of Data Breach

It seems like every day we hear about new data breaches and hacks on our personal information. Sometimes, that info is sold to nefarious outside sources. It’s happened again, and this time, it affects a department store inside the Danbury Fair Mall.

A hacking group was boasting about getting control of over five million debit and credit cards last week. After an investigation, it was determined that some of the hacked data included customer credit card information from Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Saks Off Fifth stores.

The companies say that most of the stolen credit cards appear to be from from stores in the New York City area and the Northeast. Since we're so close to New York City, it might be a good idea to look into the information below regarding this hack if you have a credit line with these stores. It’s believed that the retail outlets that were hit had not adopted more secure payment systems that were available to them. The companies don’t yet know how many customers have been impacted.
