CT Ulta Beauty Shuffle: Southbury Opening, Meriden Store Closing
The old saying "When one door closes, another one opens" is very true for national cosmetics, fragrance, and salon giant Ulta Beauty here in Connecticut. In the past year, they permanently closed the Ulta location that was on Universal Drive in North Haven and opened one nearby on Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. I wrote earlier this year about the new Southbury Ulta location being built in the Southbury Plaza. then the pandemic happened. The sign in the Southbury Plaza has had the "Coming Soon" banner plastered over the orange Ulta sign, well, not anymore.
Activity has picked up yet again at the location, store fixtures are in, the job postings have been filled or disappeared for the Southbury Ulta on Indeed and Monster too. I took a ride into the Plaza this morning and caught a glimpse of the store's interior. The registers are up and running, and it looks like the store is ready for the merchandise to roll in and be set up. Here's a photo I took where you can see a bit of the interior.
The Ulta will be opening up in the plaza right next to the new Old Navy store, they both are the first new stores in the renovated space where the old K-Mart used to be.
So, as the Ying to the Ulta Southbury yang, I can also tell you that the Ulta location in the Westfield Meriden Mall at 470 Lewis Ave will be permanently closing over the next few weeks. I spoke with a store associate a few minutes ago that confirmed the news of the closure, and also informed me that some employees will be able to transfer to other Ulta Beauty locations in Wethersfield, Hamden, and Southbury.
Ulta Beauty operates in all 50 States across the US, with almost 1,200 stores.
