Although the price of clothing has inflated like everything else in the world, a new study by WalletHub.com lists Connecticut as the #2 state out of all of the US where residents spend the lowest percentage of their income on clothing. Due to my Ozempic and Mounjaro-induced weight loss, I've had to go clothes shopping more over the past two years than I have in decades. With the popularity and effectiveness of all of the GLP1 medications, it might be a good time to start designing clothing for the parade of former chubs now swimming in excess fabric.

In order to determine which states spend the most and least on articles of clothing, WalletHub.com analyzed the average prices of one men's dress shirt, one pair of boy's jeans, and one pair of women's slacks from each state, and compared that figure to the state's median monthly income.

WalletHub.com's study has determined that Connecticut residents will spend an average of 1.12% of our median monthly household income on clothing this year, second cheapest in the nation, ranking Connecticut at #49, with only one state beating us - Nevada at #50. Our neighbors did well, with Massachusetts at #48, and Rhode Island, New Jersey, and New Hampshire not far behind. The most expensive states to buy clothing according to WalletHub? Kentucky, Louisiana, and Arkansas were the Top 3.
